la catrina

a very national representation of the death, "La Catrina" is represented as a female skeleton with a strong essence of aristocracy. the objetive is not show her as an terrific being, but to accept it and, wy not? get a little amusement from her.
in my opinion, the image of this being is a little ironic, because usually the noble people despise the lower classes, but not the death, to her sight all of us, the living beings are alike, and someday everyone will meet her; "the Bald One".

as written in the last verses of an ancient poem from 1910 (sadly I can´t remember the name of the poet, I must search for it...) :

and all the cardinals, kings, dukes, councilors and the head of the nation. On the tomb are the same: Skulls of the pile.

anyway... in other topic I like this draw a lot, but I feel like I could have done something better. well maybe the next time...
